UALR Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season at UCA Relays

CONWAY, Ark.—The UALR men’s and women’s track and field opened the outdoor season Saturday at the UCA Relays.  The Trojans placed first in ten events for the meet.

In the men’s 100-meter dash, Ramon Stewart won the event with a time of 10.84.  Daniel Ladd placed fourth in 11.16, while Marquis Lewis recorded a time of 11.39 for eighth place.

Demond Burns finished second in the men’s 200-meter dash with a time of 22.51, and Taron Dunn finished with a time of 23.43 for sixth place.  In the women’s event, Grace Rich placed second in 27.37.

In the men’s 400-meter dash, John Lamb was the top Trojan finisher placing fourth in 50.52, while Burns placed fifth in 52.58.

Aaron Batey won the men’s 1,500-meter run recorded a time of 4:07.04, and Markus Pearson placed second in 4:09.37.  Kyle Houston recorded a time of 4:10.49 for third, while Brian Giken placed fourth in 4:12.27.

In the women’s 1,500 meters, Jordyn Radke won the event recording a time of 4:56.68.  Rich placed fourth in 5:03.68, and Whitney Kerth finished in seventh in 5:07.29.  Marissa DeLaPaz recorded a time of 5:16.92 for a ninth placed finish, while Caitlin Masterson finished in 12th place in 5:22.82.  Nicole Smith recorded a time of 5:26.78 to finish in 13th.

Batey also won the men’s 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:37.77.  Derek Allen finished in fourth place in 15:52.93, and Ben Alexander recorded a time of 16:50.86 for ninth place.

In the women’s event, Taylor Brock placed fifth in 20:54.23.

Stewart won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.46, while Britney Allen placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.97. 

Allen also won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.68.  In the men’s event, Ladd placed second in 59.95, while Stewart placed third in 1:00.55.

Jonathan Cherono placed second in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:06.36.

In the men’s 4x100-meter relay, the team of Stewart, Burns, Dunn, and Lamb won the event in 42.22, while in the men’s 4x400-meter relay, the team of Burns, Batey, Houston, and Ladd placed second in 3:30.49.

Ambrea Brimmage placed third in the women’s high jump with a distance of 1.56m, while in the men’s long jump, Lewis placed third in 6.48m, and Dunn placed sixth with a jump of 6.15m.

Dunn also placed second in the men’s triple jump with a distance of 13.86m.

Casey Canady won the men’s shot put with a throw of 14.62m, while in the women’s event, Falon Hooper placed third with a distance of 10.87m.  Dixie Grammer placed fourth with a throw of 10.15m, and Brimmage placed sixth with a distance of 9.97m.

In the women’s discus, Hooper placed fourth with a throw of 28.19m, while Grammer finished in seventh place with a distance of 24.70m.  Canady won the men’s event with a throw of 46.41m, and Kirby Atkins finished second with a distance of 45.85m.

Atkins won the men’s hammer throw with a distance of 53.85.

In the women’s javelin, Brimmage placed third with a distance of 24.30m.
