Abby Wilson Named At-Risk Academic Advisor

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—UALR head women’s tennis coach Abby Wilson was named At-Risk Academic Advisor starting the 2010-11 academic season.   Along with her tennis coaching responsibilities, Wilson will serve as the primary advisor for those students designated as at-risk.

Wilson will assist at-risk student-athletes in selection and registering for appropriate classes, will monitor the student-athletes academic progress, and other duties.

Wilson begins her fourth season as head women’s tennis coach after serving as assist to the men’s and women’s programs during the 2006-07 season.

During her tenure with the UALR program, members of her squads have excelled on and off the courts. The Trojans were awarded the Sun Belt Team Academic Award for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. Her teams have earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team honors for three-straight seasons, an honor they have received every year since 2003.


Wilson, a native of Lincoln, Neb., won five individual conference titles and helped the Mavericks to two team conference titles.  She helped lead her team to NCAA regional competition all four years of her career and helped UNO advance to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 2005.


Wilson graduated in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a double minor in Psychology and Sociology.  She received her Master's of Science degree in Sports Management from UALR in December of 2007.
