TAMPA, Fla. - UALR picked up a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay en route to placing third at the Tampa Relays at the University of Tampa Swimming Complex on Saturday. Competing in their first event since early December, the Trojans garnered a pair of runner-up finishes and eight top-five finishes over the course of the day.
Amber Kelly, Kara Raney, Rebecca McEachern and Lexie Keller teamed to win the 200 free relay, combining to finish in 1:41.83 and top the second-place team from Tampa by seven-tenths of a second.
The Trojans picked up a pair of second-place finishes. First, they earned a runner-up finish in the 400 free relay when Raney, McEachern, Jenna Rutecki and Kelly clocked in at 3:45.67. UALR earned its second runner-up finish in the 3x100 backstroke relay, as Rutecki, Raney and Holly Myers combined to finish in 3:09.18.
UALR went on to earn a pair of third-place finishes as well. Keller, Kelly, Hope Myers and Holly Myers placed third in the 800 freestyle relay (8:04.98), and Kelly, Keller and Amy Tran finished third in the 3x100 butterfly relay, touching in at 3:06.93.
In the 400 medley relay, UALR placed fourth as Holly Myers, Meghan Petersen, Kelly and Keller clocked in at 4:13.34.
UALR added a fifth-place finish in the 3x100 breaststroke relay, as Audra Stalzer, Petersen and Lexie Stone clocked in at 3:48.76. The Trojans earned their second fifth-place finish in the 500 free relay, as Petersen, Raney, Stone and Rutecki finished in 5:05.76.
UALR returns to action on Jan. 14 when they take on Sun Belt foe North Texas in Denton, Texas, at 10 a.m.
