UALR senior Britny Brauburger
and freshman Sofia Berglund
were named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team for the 2011-12 season on Friday. To qualify for the NGCA's All-American Scholar Team, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or above.
Berglund played in all 10 events as a true freshman, averaging 78.17 strokes over 30 rounds. A native of Varberg, Sweden, Berglund recorded her best finish of the year at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational, where she placed 12th with an 11-over par 227 total (74-75-78). Brauburger competed in seven events as a senior, posting a 79.52 scoring average over 21 rounds. The Bella Vista, Ark.-native had two top-25 finishes on the year, the last of which came at the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Championships, where she tied for 21st place at 14-over par 230 (76-80-74).
Founded in 1983, the NGCA is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The NGCA represents nearly 500 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
