- The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association
(USTFCCCA) has announced its preseason regional men's and women's rankings for
NCAA Division I. The UALR men's team begins the season ranked No. 11 in the
South Central Region, while the women will start the 2012 campaign ranked No. 14.
Sitting atop the men's South Central Region rankings
are Texas, Texas A&M and Arkansas, respectively. UALR finished the season
at No. 9 in the final South Central Region rankings of the 2011 season and
placed second at the Sun Belt Championships.
Though in a slightly different order, the same three
teams lead the pack in the women's rankings with Arkansas, Texas and Texas
A&M resting at No. 1, 2 and 3, respectively. The UALR women ended the 2011
season ranked No. 15 in the region and placed fourth at the Sun Belt Championships.
UALR's kicks off its 2012 season with the UALR
Invitational at Rebsamen Park on Sept. 7. The UALR-hosted event will be one of
three events the Trojans compete in before the Sun Belt Championships in
Bowling Green, Ky., on Oct. 27.
