UALR Cross Country Men Picked Second, Women Picked Fourth in Preseason SBC Poll

LITTLE ROCK - The UALR men's cross country team has been picked to finish second in the Sun Belt Conference while the women's team was picked to finish fourth in a preseason poll of the coaches, the league office announced on Wednesday. The Western Kentucky men and women, both winners at last year's SBC Championships, were picked to repeat as champions in 2012. 

The UALR men were one of just three teams to collect a first place vote. WKU (10 first place vote, 14 points) led the way, with UALR (one first place vote, 35 points) and Middle Tennessee (one first place vote, 40 points) next in line.

UALR's women picked up a pair of first place votes. WKU (six first place votes, 23 points) topped the list, followed by Arkansas State (one first place vote, 46 points), South Alabama (one first place vote, 47 points) and UALR (two first place votes, 57 total points.)

UALR begins its 2012 season on Friday, Sept. 7 when they host the UALR Invitational at Rebsamen Park. The women's race begins at 5:45, while the men's race is scheduled to start at 6:30.
