LITTLE ROCK - Markus Pearson led the way for the UALR cross country team with a sixth-place finish in the men's 5K, while Mackenzie Bloom paced the women with a 12th-place finish in the women's 5K. Shaun Koehn (seventh) and Felix Maritim (ninth) gave UALR two more top-ten finishes on the men's side.
Pearson clocked in at 15:46.42 to lead the men, while Bloom finished in 19:42.81. Koehn (15:47.84) and Maritim (15:51.43) rounded out UALR's top-ten times.
Arkansas State's Kristina Aubert took first place for the women in a time of 17:45.20. On the men's side, Wojciech Kopec ran unattached and took first place overall in 15:06.72.
Tori Copeland placed 20th in a time of 20:22.16 as the second UALR finisher on the women's side. Breanne Mitchell (20:57.90) placed 29th and Therese Moberg (24:29.49) placed 53rd.
Gabriel Ghioca (16:31.24) placed 22nd as the first Trojan to cross the line outside of the top ten. Rodney Sasse placed 31st in a time of 16:45. Chris Dunbar (17:07.30) and Ben Alexander (18:03.17) rounded out UALR's runners on the men's side.
The UALR teams will three weeks of rest before they travel to Louisville, Ky. for the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, Sept. 29. The men's race will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the women will start at 11:30 a.m.
