- The UALR men's and women's cross country teams are ranked No. 11 and No. 15,
respectively, in this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country
Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Central Region poll. The Trojan men's
ranking was unchanged from the initial preseason poll, while the UALR women
fell one spot from No. 14 in the preseason rankings.
The South Central Region rankings on the men's side saw
no changes from the season-opening poll. Texas, Texas A&M and Arkansas lead
the pack at No. 1, 2 and 3, respectively, while Lamar (No. 4) and Rice (No. 5) round
out the top five.
The women's poll saw a few teams shift, as SMU jumped
three spots to No. 5 and TCU fell two spots to No. 7. Sam Houston State and UT
Arlington both entered the poll after being unranked to start the season.
The Trojans opened their season on Friday, Sept. 7 by
hosting the UALR Invitational at Rebsamen Golf Course. Markus Pearson led the men with a sixth-place finish (15:47.84) in
the men's 5K, while Mackenzie Bloom
paced the UALR women with a 12th-place finish in the women's 5K
(15:47.84) and Felix Maritim
(15:51.43) placed seventh and ninth, respectively, to give the Trojans two
additional top-ten finishes in the men's race. Tori Copeland (20:22.16) placed 20th and Breanne Mitchell (20:57.90) finished 29th
to help lead the women.
The UALR teams will have

Louisville Classic on Saturday, Sept. 29. The men's race will begin at 9:30
a.m., and the women will start at 11:30 a.m.
