LITTLE ROCK - Cassandra Briscoe scored two goals, including one of Northwestern State's three second-half scores, to lead the Lady Demons (3-4-0) to a 4-0 win over UALR (1-7-0) at the Coleman Sports & Recreation Complex Friday night. Northwestern State outshot UALR 22-11, including 11-4 in shots on goal in sloppy conditions due to heavy rain throughout the match.

Briscoe led the Lady Demons in shots (5) and shots on goal (4). Theresa Halle and Yanci Johnson each added three shots on the night, while Jackie Strug chipped in two. Johnson finished the night with one goal and one assist. Strug scored the Lady Demons' final goal of the night.

Sophomores Kailie Holloway and Ariel Galletti and junior Ashley Barksdale led the Trojans with two shots each. Holloway, along with three others, added one shot on goal.

Junior Natalie Marsh made her third start of the season and gave up two goals while making six stops. Marsh, who was leading the Sun Belt in saves entering the match, played 53:30 before being relieved by freshman Shantel Wittke. Wittke allowed two scores while making one save over the final 36:30.

Brooke Bourbonais made four stops while playing all 90 minutes to earn the shutout for Northwestern State.

Briscoe got the offense started for the Lady Demons, scoring the only goal of the first half at the 28:13 mark off a feed from Johnson to give Northwestern State a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Demons added their second score shortly after halftime. After Marsh misplayed a ball in the box, Johnson swooped in to finish the play and make it 2-0 in favor of the Demons. Briscoe scored unassisted for her second goal of the game in the 55th minute, and Strug capped the scoring for the night by connecting on a penalty kick in the 88th minute.

UALR led in corner kicks, 6-1, while Northwestern State was whistled seven times compared to four for the Trojans.

UALR is back in action next weekend when they travel to Middle Tennessee and WKU for a pair of road matches. The Trojans begin the trip by playing the Blue Raiders at Dean A. Hayes stadium on Friday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.
