BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - The UALR women's golf team is in eighth place after two rounds at the 15-team Dale McNamara Invitational, led by the play of senior Emelie Westrup and sophomore Sofia Berglund. The Trojans were in fifth place after the first 18 holes thanks to a six-over par 294 in the opening round, but dropped back to eighth after carding a 306 in the second round at the par-72, 6,282-yard Golf Club Oklahoma.
Westrup accounted for the lowest score by a Trojan on Monday with an even-par 72 in opening round, and finds herself in a tie for 20th place at four-over par 148 (72-76). Berglund is one shot back of Westrup in a tie for 23rd place at five-over par 149 (73-76). Junior Brynn Donovan is third on the team at eight-over par 152 (73-79), followed by senior Malin Lundberg (78-75) and newcomer Matilda Lignell (76-80).
Arizona State leads the 15-team field at four-under par 572 on the strength of an eight-under par 280 in the first round. Florida sits four shots back of the leaders at even-par 576 (285-291), followed by East Carolina at eight-over par 584 (293-291). At 24-over par 600, the Trojans are currently two shots back of seventh-place Kansas (295-303 - 598).
Florida's Isabelle Lendl sits atop the individual leader board at six-under par 138 after firing a five-under par 67 in the second round. Lendl heads into Tuesday's final round with a two-stroke lead over fellow Gator Camilla Hedberg (67-73) and Oklahoma State's Jayde Panos (70-70). Arizona State's Laura Blanco (70-72) and Dani Ordonez (71-71) are tied for fourth place at two-under par 142.
