BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - The UALR women's golf team carded an eight-over par 296 in the final round of the Dale McNamara Invitational on Tuesday to finish seventh at the 15-team event. Senior Emelie Westrup closed out the event with a 73 in the final round at the par-72, 6,282-yard Golf Club Oklahoma, to finish in a tie for 18th place at five-over par 221.
UALR entered the final round in ninth place in the team standings, but used a 73 from Westrup and an even-par 72 from freshman Matilda Lignell to move up to seventh. Westrup (72-76-73) was the top finisher for UALR at five-over par 221, with sophomore Sofia Berglund tying for 27th place at eight-over par 224 (73-76-75). Lignell (76-80-72) and junior Brynn Donovan (73-79-76) shared 35th place at 12-over par 228, followed by senior Malin Lundberg at 14-over par 230 (78-75-77).
Arizona State used a six-over par 294 in the final round to hold off Florida for the team championship. The Sun Devils had four players place in the top-20 and finished at two-over par 866 (280-292-294) to earn a three-stroke victory over the Gators (285-291-293 - 869). Oklahoma State placed third at 11-over par 875 (289-297-289). UALR came in at 32-over par 896 (294-306-296) for the event, finishing ahead of Tulsa, Kansas, Middle Tennessee and Illinois in the team standings.
Florida's Isabelle Lendl moved atop the leader board with a five-under par 67 in the second round, and held on to capture medalist honors by carding a 72 on Tuesday. Lendl finished at six-under par 210 (71-67-72) to earn a three-shot victory over Arizona State's Dani Ordonez (71-71-71 - 213). Oklahoma State's Jayde Panos (70-70-74) and Kelsey Vines (70-73-71) tied for third place at two-under par 214.
UALR returns to action Sept. 24-25 at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational in Lawrence, Kan.
