GREEN, Ky. - The UALR soccer team (1-9-0, 0-2-0 SBC) was unable
to pick up its first Sun Belt win of the season on Sunday, falling to WKU
(7-3-0, 2-0-0 SBC) by a 5-0 final score at WKU Soccer Field. Nicholette Sartori
and Lauren Moats each lit up the scoreboard twice for the Lady Tops.
Moats and Amanda Buechel led WKU's offensive attack
with six shots each, while Sartori and Allie Auscherman each finished the
afternoon with five shots. Buechel also contributed a goal and an assist for a
three-point match.
WKU outshot UALR 36-3, including 13-1 in shots on goal.
Freshman Galya Cohen put UALR's lone
shot on frame. Sophomores Alyson Rohane
and Ariel Galletti contributed one
shot each.
Junior Natalie
Marsh started at goalkeeper for UALR. Marsh played the entire first half
and gave up two goals while making three saves. Freshman Shantel Wittke came on for the second half and made four saves
while surrendering three scores.
The Lady Tops' Nikki Hall played the entire 90 minutes
and made one stop to earn the shoutout.
Sartori scored WKU's first goal at the 6:44 mark,
accepting a cross from Buechel and finishing from 10 yards out to make a it a
1-0 contest. Buechel added a goal of her own later in the half, beating Marsh
off a feed from Chrissy Tchoula in the 27th minute to give the Lady
Tops a 2-0 lead at the half.
WKU went up 3-0 on Sartori's second goal at the 61:19
mark, then made it 4-0 when Moats connected on a header in the 72nd
minute. Moats added her second and WKU's fifth goal of the match at the 81:41
mark, controlling a deflected shot and beating Wittke to cap the Lady Tops' five-goal
night.
WKU led 4-2 in corner kicks for the match, while UALR
committed four fouls to the Lady Tops' three.
UALR will look to rebound when it hosts a couple of Sun
Belt foes at the Coleman Sports & Recreation Complex next weekend.
Louisiana-Lafayette comes to town Friday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m., while ULM will face the
Trojans Sunday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m.
