- Felix Maritim and Marissa DeLaPaz led the UALR men's and
women's cross country teams at the 11th annual Greater Louisville
Classic at E.P. Sawyer State Park on Saturday. Maritim placed eighth amongst
all individuals in his field to lead the UALR men's team to a third-place
finish in their field of 46 teams.
UALR competed in the Men's Blue Field, which was comprised
of 46 teams and 362 individual runners. J.J. Webber from Northern Kentucky was
the top individual finisher in a time of 24:43.30. Eastern Kentucky (96) took
the top overall team spot, followed by Grand Valley State (108) and UALR (243).
The UALR women placed 28th in the Women's Blue
Field that included 43 teams and 337 individual runners. West Virginia finished
first overall and Sharon Ronoh (17:27.36) from Lindsey Wilson was the top
individual finisher in the women's 5K field.
Maritim led the way for the men with an eighth-place
finish in a time of 25:10.19, finishing just off his own mark of 25:09.33 that
sits 15th on UALR's all-time 8K list.
Shaun
Koehn
was the second finisher for the Trojans at No. 35 in a time of 25:40.23. Markus Pearson, the Trojans' top
finisher at their season-opening UALR Invitational, placed 52nd in a
time of 25:51.63.
John
Vodacek (68th, 26:02.42), Rodney Sasse (89th, 26:18.98) and Brock Hime (131st, 26:35.41) were the next three Trojans
to cross the finish line. Brendon Tucker
(149th, 26:41.70), Chris
Dunbar (27:09.98) and Dalton Richey
(222nd, 27:12.70) rounded out UALR's finishers.
DeLaPaz was first in line for the Trojan women with a 54th-place
finish in a time of 18:53.13. Mackenzie
Bloom was next at No. 81 in 19:08.46, followed by Tori Copeland (156th, 19:42.55). Breanne Mitchell (233rd, 20:23.50) and Therese Moberg (317th,
22:17.88) rounded out UALR's group of five finishers.
The UALR cross country teams will next compete at the 24th
annual Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday, Oct. 13. Races
will begin at 9:45 a.m.
