LITTLE
ROCK
- The UALR men's cross country team jumped to No. 15 in this week's United
States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South
Central Region Rankings following its performance at the 11th annual
Greater Louisville Classic. The Trojans were unranked last week and last
appeared in the Sept. 10 rankings at No. 11.
UALR's move was fueled by a third-place finish in the
Blue Field at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, Sept. 29 after being
inactive since the UALR Invitational on Sept. 7. The Trojans finished third
amongst 46 teams and were led by Felix
Maritim, who placed eighth individually in a time of 25:10.19.
Shaun Koehn was the second finisher for the Trojans at No. 35
in a time of 25:40.23. Markus
Pearson, the Trojans' top finisher at their season-opening UALR
Invitational, placed 52nd in a
time of 25:51.63.
J.J. Webber from Northern
Kentucky was the top individual finisher in Louisville in a time of 24:43.30.
Eastern Kentucky, the top-ranked team in the Southeast Region, took the top
overall team spot with 96 points, followed by Grand Valley State (108) and UALR
(243).
The Trojans will return to
action on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the 24th annual Chile Pepper Festival
in Fayetteville, Ark.
