SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - UALR senior Emelie Westrup fired a two-under par 70 in the final round of the Missouri State/Payne Stewart Memorial on Tuesday to capture medalist honors and lead the Trojans to the team championship. UALR posted its highest score of the event in the final round at the 6,104-yard, par-72 Rivercut Golf Course, but held on for a two-stroke victory over MSU to capture its first tournament title of the 2012-13 season.

"Emelie just played her heart out today. She played really great. She was actually four-under par going into the last hole, but got a little nervous at the end," said head coach Bridgett Norwood. "Emelie has worked so hard this semester, and played well every week. She and Matilda (Lignell) really stepped up in the final round, and I'm very proud of the girls."

Westrup entered the final round four-shots back of Missouri State's Emma Clegg, in a tie for second-place at four-over par 148. She pulled out a one-stroke victory over Clegg by posting the lowest score of the event in the final round with a two-under par 70, while Clegg carded a three-over par 75. Westrup finished at two-over par 218 (76-72-70) to capture the first medalist honor of her career, with Clegg finishing one-shot back at three-over par 219 (71-73-75). MSU's Lindsey Eisenreich came in third place at seven-over par 223 (76-75-72).

All five players placed in the top-20 to help UALR to the team title, with junior Brynn Donovan tying for 12th place at 13-over par 229 (78-72-79). Senior Malin Lundberg (71-80-80), sophomore Sofia Berglund (73-76-82) and freshman Matilda Lignell (83-75-73) all posted identical 15-over par 231 totals to tie for 19th place. Lignell posted the team's second-lowest score in the final round with a one-over par 73.

Missouri State trailed UALR by four strokes entering Tuesday's final round, and nearly made up the ground by posting the lowest team score of the day - a nine-over par 297. The Bears had three players finish in the top-10, led by Clegg's three-over par 219. Oral Roberts finished third at 45-over par 909 (308-294-207).

UALR returns to action Oct. 22-23 at the Blue Raider Invitational in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
