LITTLE ROCK - The UALR tennis team returns to action this weekend (Oct. 19-21) when it travels to Kansas for the second KU Fall Invitational. Besides host Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Northern Iowa, Drake and UMKC will be joining the Trojans.

"I am looking forward to see how much we improved from the first tournament," head coach Abby Wilson explained. "We have had more time practicing and conditioning to prepare for this weekend so I am excited to see the results.

"We really have gotten better but there is still room for improvement," Wilson added.

At the first KU Fall Invite last month, Veronique Luksich at singles draw B and Michaela McShane at singles draw H both went 2-1 to claim the consolation bracket title. Yana Kakovkina at singles draw D finished 1-2 while Viktoriya Plyuta in draw A finished went 0-2.

Freshman Christel Amsallem, in her first collegiate matches, split the first two days before losing a tough 6-3, 6-4 match in the consolation bracket finals at singles draw F.

After the trip to Lawrence, Kan. this weekend, UALR tennis completes the fall season in two weeks when it travels to Jonesboro, Ark. for the ASU Fall Invitational.
