Also in Draw C, sophomore Michaela McShane claimed a 6-3, 6-0 triumph over Amanda Dick of Drake.
In other matches, senior Veronique Luksich won when her opponent was forced to retire in Singles Draw B. Junior Viktoriya Plyuta dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision in Singles Draw A while senior Yana Kakovkina lost in Singles Draw C 6-1, 6-3.
In doubles play, Kakovkina teamed up with Kansas' Victoria Khanevskaya to win its first match 8-2 before losing a tough 8-6 decision. Amsallem and McShane dropped a pair of matches 8-0 and 8-4. Plyuta and Luksich fell 8-5 before rebounding in the consolation bracket with an 8-4 decision over a duo from Kansas State.
