MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Senior Malin Lundberg is in fourth place after two rounds at two-over par 146 to lead the UALR women's golf team at the Blue Raider Invitational. UALR was tied for first place after one round following a 10-over par 298, but dropped into a tie for sixth after posting a 306 in the second round.
Lundberg is tied for fourth place at two-over par 146 after carding a pair of 73's over the first two rounds. Senior Emelie Westrup and freshman Matilda Lignell chipped in matching two-over par 74's in the first round to help UALR tie Southern Illinois after the first 18 holes at 10-over par 298. Westrup is second on the team and tied for 34th place overall at eight-over par 152, followed by sophomore Sofia Berglund at 10-over par 154 (77-77).
Host Middle Tennessee leads the 18-team field at 14-over par 590 thanks to a three-over par 291 in the second round at the Old Fort Golf Club. The Blue Raiders are seven-strokes up on second-place Morehead State (307-290 - 597), followed by Jacksonville State (299-299) and SIU (298-300) in a two-way tie for third place at 22-over par 598.
Jacksonville State's Maya Parsons posted the lowest score of the day with a five-under par 67 in the first round and is tied with SIU's Cassie Rushing (72-72) atop the individual leader board at even-par 144. MT's Ashley Haggard is in third place at one-over par 145 (76-69), with Lundberg two-shots back of the co-leaders at two-over par 146.
Tuesday's final round begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
