LITTLE ROCK - UALR
head coach Joe Foley and the rest of
the women's basketball staff are pleased to announce on Wednesday (Nov. 14) the
signing of Sharde Collins for the
2013-14 season.
"Sharde has great explosiveness to the rim along with a very
nice pull-up game," Foley explained. "Defensively, she has a chance to be a
shutdown guard defender, much like former Trojan Shanika Butler."
Collins is a potent scorer with an average of 15.8 points
per game. She also tallies an average of 8.8 boards, 4.0 steals and 3.5 assists
per game while shooting 82 percent from the charity stripe for Liberty-Eylau.
Collins led the Lady Leopards to a 2010 State Championship.
Individually, Collins earned All-District honors her first
three seasons of her high school career, also being named All-Area and All-Regions
for two years as well as an All-State recipient. She also was named Co-MVP of
the District and Area with NCAA Division I prospect Imani Wright.
A three sport athlete, Collins was named All-District and
All-Area twice in softball as well as a member of the Lady Leopards 2011 State
Track and Field championship team.
Besides her athletic success, Collins also boasts a 3.2
overall GPA and is in the top 25% of her class.
