- UALR is looking to move to 3-0 on the week
after wins at SMU Monday (Nov. 19) and vs. Oral Roberts
- Rice is 2-2 overall and are wrapping up a
4-game road trip against the Trojans. After dropping the first two, the Owls claimed a
73-61 win over Texas State.
- With 51 in the first half against the
Golden Eagles, it tied the most points in a half under Joe Foley (51 vs.
Jan. 23, 2007).
- UALR has blocked seven shots in
three-straight games, surpassing last year's total (2) in a campaign where the Trojans blocked the most
shots (114) in a single season.
- The Trojans are going
for its fourth win of the season against Rice Saturday (Nov. 24), something it
did not achieve last season until Dec. 21 against Seattle.
Rice enters the game with a 2-2 record after
winning at Texas State Tuesday night
(Nov. 20) 73-61. This contest wraps up a 4-game roadtrip with the Owls
losing the first two games at Tennessee and Tennessee Tech.
Texas State, Rice raced out to a 39-28 edge and never looked back in the
12-point win. Jessica Kuster led the Owls with 26 points and 19 boards for the
double-double. Megan Palmer added 14 points and nine rebounds.
Kuster is averaging a double-double on the season with 21.3
points and 10.5 rebounds per game. She also leads the team with six blocks on
the season, three of which came against Texas State. Palmer is second with 12.0
points per game while Christal Porter is second on the glass with 7.0 rebounds
was picked to finish fourth in Conference USA in a vote by the head coaches. Junior
forward Jessica Kuster was selected the preseason Conference USA Player of the
Year, her second-straight preseason All-Conference honor. Rice is among the
nations top-10 youngest teams for the 2012-13 season.
Flashback to Last Year
Rice scored the games first four points and
led 10-8, but UALR responded by scoring 25 of the final 34 of the half to roll
to a 33-19 halftime advantage. The Trojans won 67-47 on Nov. 26, 2011 in
UALR, Taylor Gault scored a game high 25 points on 11-16 shooting with
10 points from Taylor Ford. Hannah Fohne added six points and eight
Megan Shafer came off the bench for eight points,

Winning the Cup
UALR is not playing in an in-season tournament, the Trojans have a claim to the
Tulsa, Okla Mayor's Cup.
Oral Roberts and Tulsa play for the cup annually, but UALR has beaten both
teams on the season. The Trojans do host Tulsa for a second game of the
season in Little Rock Dec. 18.
With a career-best 33 points for
sophomore Taylor Gault, UALR knocked off Tulsa 73-64 on Nov. 12 to open the
season. Gault followed up her outburst with 31 against Oral Roberts on
Wednesday (Nov. 21) as the Trojans blitzed the Golden Eagles 79-47.
Gault Loves Tulsa
Who knew sophomore Taylor Gault loved teams from Tulsa,
Okla. so much?
In the season-opening game against Tulsa on Nov. 12, Gault
scored a career-high 33 points on 13-20 shooting from the field as UALR won
73-64. She followed that up with a spectacular first half against the other
Tulsa team (Oral Roberts) with a career-half high of 25 and a career-best five
triples. UALR went on to win 79-47 over Oral Roberts.
With no UALR player with more than 30 points in a game since
the 2011-12 season, Gault has already accomplished this feat twice this
Dialing it Up From Long Range
Merriex is having quite the early season from long range for UALR. After
going 1-2 in the first game of the season against Tulsa (Nov. 12), Merriex
nailed six of 10 treys to match her single-game best from her sophomore year. She
leads the team, shooting 10-18 (55.6) beyond the arc.
After hitting three
triples against Missouri State, Merriex dialed in from deep for three treys
on successive possesions during UALR's 11-0 run late in the second half against
the Lady Bears.
Not to be oudone,
Gault went 5-6 in the first half alone against Oral Roberts on Wednesday (Nov.
21) to help UALR cruise to a 79-47 victory. Gault is now second on the
team, shooting at a 44.4 percent rate from downtown.
Through four games, UALR averages two
charges taken a game. Junior Taylor Ford and junior Hannah Fohne
each have three. Sophomore Taylor Gault and freshman Jakeisha Wells
each have one.
Trojans Rewind: Oral Roberts
put together a dominating first half where it outscored the Golden Eagles
51-18, including a 47-12 run to end the stanza. UALR won the contest 79-47 on
Wednesday (Nov. 21) to move to 3-1 on the season, including 2-0 against teams
from Tulsa, Okla.
Taylor Gault recorded her second 30+ point performance of the season
with 31 points and a team-high six boards. Juniors Hannah Fohne and
Taylor Ford both contributed 10 while senior Janette Merriex added a
pair of triples and three blocks.
UALR trailed only 32 seconds in the
contest until Merriex connected on a three with just over 17 minutes remaining
in the first half to give the Trojans a 7-6 advantage. UALR would not trail the
rest of the way as Gault hit a pair of triples in consecutive possesions to
push the lead to seven. UALR led by as much as 38 in the 32-point win.

homestand Thursday when it plays host to the other Trojans of Troy on Thursday
night (Nov. 29). Tip-off in the first Sun Belt Conference game for both teams
