JONESBORO, Ark. - The UALR men's and women's track and field teams began their 2012-13 indoor seasons at the ASU Kickoff Klassic on Sunday. UALR's day was highlighted by taking four of the top-five spots in the men's 3,000-meter run, with Dustin Mettler taking first place overall.

Mettler won the event in a time of 8:34.39 and was followed by teammate Markus Pearson, who clocked in at 8:41.53. Chris Dunbar finished fourth in a time of 8:59.36 and Brendon Tucker placed fifth in 9:02.16. Caleb DeLaPaz placed 11^th overall in a time of 9:28.74 to round out the Trojans' finishers.

Emma Dahl finished second to lead a group of four UALR finishers in the women's 3,000-meter run. Dahl collected the runner-up finish in a time of 10:21.92, and teammate Marissa DeLaPaz placed fourth in 10:28.74. Mackenzie Bloom finished sixth (10:35.42) and Tori Copeland placed 11^th (11:10.51) to give UALR four finishers in the top-15.

Rodney Sasse (15:25.90) and Felix Maritim (15:28.16) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the men's 5,000-meter run.

In the throws, Jason Belt placed third in the finals of the men's weight throw (18.07m) and fifth in the finals of the men's shot put (14.25m). In the women's shot put, Rebekah Grissom placed third (13.05m) and Melissa Chunn finished sixth (11.94m).

In the jumps, Troy Smith collected a fourth-place finish in the finals of the men's high jump (1.87m). Victor Shores placed 14^th in the finals of the long jump (5.99m) and went on to place sixth in the finals of the men's triple jump (13.01m).

Dylan Wood won the third heat of the 55-meter dash (6.68) before placing eighth in the finals (6.69). Tachara Thomas won the third heat of the 55-meter dash and went on to place sixth overall in the finals (7.20).

In the men's 200-meter dash, Basil Rogers placed sixth (22.51) and Dylan Wood finished 14^th (23.09).

Alex Ebmeyer (49.47) and Casey Lane (50.80) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the men's 400-meter dash. In the women's 400-meter dash, Shanavia Cole placed 16^th (1:02.31) and Brittney Brasuell (1:03.86) placed 23^rd.

Dalton Richey placed seventh overall in the finals of the men's mile run in 4:32.52. Breanne Mitchell placed 14^th in the finals of the women's mile run in 5:55.29.

In the women's 800-meter run, Therese Moberg placed ninth (2:33.47) and Alissa Anderson placed 17^th (2:43.80).

UALR have a nearly two-month break before returning to action with the ASU Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 26.
