- Competing in their final meet before the Sun Belt Championships, the UALR
men's and women's indoor track and field teams travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn.,
to compete in the Middle Tennessee-hosted Valentine Invitational on Saturday,
Feb. 9. Start time is scheduled for 10 a.m.
In addition to UALR and Middle Tennessee, Western
Kentucky, Belmont, Chattanooga, Milligan and Tennessee State will all be
competing in Saturday's meet.
In its last meet, UALR captured five first-place finishes at the ASU Invitational on
Friday, Jan. 25 at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro, Ark. Caleb
Hanson earned two of the Trojans' five first-place finishes on
the day, winning both the mile and 5,000m runs.
Hanson paced three UALR finishers in the mile run. Hanson won the
event in 4:19.80, while Nathan Carr placed fourth in 4:29.81 and Brendon
Tucker finished
fifth in 4:31.39. Emma Dahl completed the event sweep for the
Trojans by earning victory in the women's mile run in a time of 5:10.79.
Hanson went on to also win the men's 5,000m run (15:08.17), while
teammate Shaun Koehn (15:28.44)
placed third.
Marissa DeLaPaz took the top spot in the women's 5,000m run
(18:43.71), while Tori Copeland (19:31.02)
placed third and Mackenzie Bloom (19:31.19) finished fourth.
Rickard Gunnarsson picked up the final win of the day for the Trojans. Gunnarson
placed first (1:53.16) and teammate Alex Ebmeyer (1:56.39) placed second in the men's
800m run.
In the field events, Jason Belt picked up a third-place finish in the
finals of the men's weight throw (17.53m), and Taron
Dunn placed
second in the finals of the men's triple jump (14.49m). Victor
Shores also placed 11th in the men's triple jump (13.22m).
