LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -
The Trojans lost a pair of singles matches in three-sets as UALR (9-5) fell 5-2
to Louisiana Tech (2-3) Saturday (March 2) at the Pleasant Valley Country Club.
UALR won at both fourth and fifth singles. Sophomore Dané Vorster won the first set 6-4 at
fourth singles before losing the second 7-6 (6) to Manoela Chiacchio of the
Lady Techsters. Vorester won the finale 7-5 to improve her season record to
7-7.
At fifth singles, sophomore Michaela McShane rallied from a set deficit. Losing the first 6-4
to Alena Erofeyeva, McShane took the second in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (6). She left
nothing to chance in the finale with a 6-3 win to improve to 8-3.
After winning a pair of first sets at second and third
singles, La Tech rallied for a pair of three-set wins. Melanie Urvoy beat
freshman Kamilla Galieva at first
singles 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. At third singles, junior Viktoriya Plyuta lost to Taly Merker 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Amsallem lost 6-3, 6-1 to Sophie Heldoom at sixth singles while senior Yana Kakovkina fell to Vivian ten Dolle
7-5, 6-1.
La Tech captured the doubles point with a pair of wins.
Kakovkina and Plyuta lost 8-5 at first doubles and Galieva and Vorster fell 8-2
at second doubles. McShane and Amsallem ended doubles on a high note for the
Trojans with an 8-6 win at the third slot.
UALR returns to action next weekend for a pair of road
matches. UALR takes on Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday (March 8) before
concluding play with a Sun Belt Conference tilt at ULM on Saturday.
