Neighbour Garners All-Sun Belt Honors for Second-Straight Season

LITTLE ROCK - UALR junior Will Neighbour picked up All-Sun Belt Conference honors for the second-consecutive year on Wednesday. Voted on by the league's head coaches and media members, Neighbour was named Third Team All-Sun Belt after leading UALR in both scoring (10.8 ppg) and rebounding (6.9 rpg) while shooting 45.1 percent from the floor during the 2012-13 regular season.

Neighbour ranks second on the team in both blocks (31) and steals (37), and pulled down a team-high 63 offensive boards in 31 games this season. The 6-10 forward led the Trojans in scoring a team-best 11 times and led UALR in rebounding a team-high 21 times, including 15 of the final 18 contests. Neighbour totaled five double-doubles on the season, tying him for sixth-most in the conference, recently finishing with 17 points and 11 rebounds to go along with a career-best-tying three blocks in a win over Louisiana on Thursday, Feb. 28.

The Grayshott, England-native was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week on Monday, Jan. 28 after averaging 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 block in UALR's wins over Florida Atlantic and North Texas. First, Neighbour helped fuel the Trojans' 22-point comeback against FAU on Jan. 24 by collecting his fourth double-double of the season with a career-best 24 points and 11 rebounds on 7-of-10 shooting. The 6-10 forward followed that up with 11 points, six rebounds and a career-high four steals in a win at North Texas on Saturday, Jan. 26.

Neighbour and the Trojans return to action on Saturday, March 9 when they begin the Sun Belt Tournament at Summit Arena in Hot Springs, Ark. The No. 5-seeded Trojans will face No. 4-seeded FIU at 6 p.m. on the Convention Center Court. The game can be seen on the Sun Belt Digital Network at SunBeltSports.org.
