HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. – The UALR women’s golf team sits in fourth place overall after a day of competition at the seventh annual UALR Women’s Golf Classic at Diamante Country Club. Led by two opening round scores of 79 (+7) from sophomore Sofia Berglund and junior Brynn Donovan, the Trojans opened the event with an opening-round team total of 323 (+35) and sit fourth overall.
Originally scheduled for two rounds on Monday, teams were unable to finish the opening day’s second round of play due to darkness. Play will resume on Tuesday at 8 a.m. with the conclusion of round two. Round three will begin immediately after.
Missouri State leads all teams after one round of play with a team total of 312 (+24). Central Arkansas and North Texas are currently tied for second at 319 (+31). UALR sits in fourth place, and Middle Tennessee and Sam Houston State are tied for fifth place at 324 (+36).
Individually, Sam Houston State’s Nicole Budnik, Missouri State’s Emma Clegg and North Texas’ Georgia Mundy are all tied for first place after firing two-over par scores of 74 in their opening rounds.
Berglund and Donovan led the Trojans with identical opening-round scores of 79, tying them for eighth place overall. Senior Emelie Westrup finished with a 10-over par 82 to sit in a tie for 33rd overall. Senior Malin Lundberg is just a stroke back at +11 (83) and junior Katie Reid finished with at +19 (91).
