AUSTIN, Texas – The UALR women’s golf team sits in tenth place after 36 holes at The Challenge at Onion Creek on Monday at the par-70, 5,821-yard Onion Creek Golf Club. The Trojans combined for a team score of 610 (+50), led by sophomore Sofia Berglund’s eight-over par two-round total of 148 (72-76).
Berglund’s total was good enough to tie for 24th after the first day of competition, while senior Emelie Westrup sits in a tie for 36th overall after shooting 76-76 for a 12-over par total of 152. Junior Brynn Donovan (77-76) is tied for 44th at 13-over 153. Senior Malin Lundberg (78-79) finished at 17-over 157, and junior Katie Reid shot 83-79 for a two-round total of 22-over 162.
Gonazaga leads the field of 13 with a two-round team total of 567 (+7), while host Texas State sits six strokes back at 573 (+13). Texas State’s Krista Puisite leads all individuals after shooting 68-70 to finish at two-under 138 after one day. Gonzaga’s Han Wu is just stroke back at one-under par 139 (71-68) after two rounds of competition.
Kennesaw State (582, +22), Texas Tech (588, +28) and Washington State (589, +29) round out the field’s top-five teams, respectively.
The final 18 holes will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
