JONESBORO, Ark. – The UALR men’s golf team sits in a tie for fifth after 36 holes at the ASU Red Wolves Intercollegiate at the par-72, 6,565-yard Ridge Point Country Club on Monday. Sophomores Alfred Kerstis and Colby Benton are tied for 18th after three-over par totals of 146 through the tournament’s first two rounds.
Kerstis fired back-to-back rounds of 73 in his first day, while Benton opened with a one-under 71 before shooting a three-over 75 in round two. Junior Nick Zimmerman is tied for 29th after opening with an eight-over par 80 and rebounding with a four-under par 68 in the second round for a 36-hole total of 148 (+4). Sophomore Johann Voss (77-72) is a stroke back of Zimmerman at 149 (+5) and senior Nicklaus Benton shot 76-78 for a 36-hole total of 154 (+10).
The Trojans (585, +17) are tied with host Arkansas State heading into the final round of competition. Austin Peay holds a healthy lead on the field of 19 teams at 566 (-2). Belmont (578, +10), Samford (581, +13) and Southern Illinois (583, +15) sit second , third and fourth, respectively.
Austin Peay’s Anthony Bradley leads all individuals at seven-under 137 through two rounds. Bradley fired an opening round 69 (-3) and followed it up with a second-round 68 (-4).
The field resumes play with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday morning.
