LITTLE ROCK – The UALR Department of Athletics has announced the addition of four members to its staff for the 2013-14 year. Additionally, Director of Development Andrea Angel has announced that she will be leaving the department for a similar position at the UALR College of Business.

Matt Bonaminio (Director of Sales), Scott Dietrich (Ticket Manager), Evan Drexler (Assistant Sports Information Director) and John Thomas (Sports Information Assistant) join the department in various roles for the upcoming athletic year.

UALR’s new Director of Sales, Bonaminio brings with him ten years of experience in both leadership and team member roles in the United States military and locally owned businesses. Most recently, Bonaminio worked at Crews & Associates in Little Rock, trading and providing expertise on fixed income securities.

After graduating from Little Rock Catholic High School in 2002, Bonaminio served four years in the United States Marine Corps 1st Reconnaissance Battalion.

A 2011 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas, Bonaminio earned his bachelor’s degree in political science while obtaining a minor in sociology.

The Trojans’ new Ticket Manager, Dietrich worked as the Box Office Assistant from Dec. 2012-June 2013 at the Cajundome Arena and Convention Center in Lafayette, La. While at the Cajundome, Dietrich assisted in ticket management and distribution for numerous teams and events, including athletic events for Louisiana-Lafayette and the 2012 New Orleans Bowl.

While earning his master’s degree at the University of Southern Mississippi, Dietrich worked as a marketing and sales graduate assistant in the USM athletic department. Dietrich graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in Aug. 2006, and his master’s degree in sport management from Southern Miss in Dec. 2008.

Drexler joins UALR as the Assistant Sports Information Director. A 2009 magna cum laude graduate from the University of Florida with a degree in journalism, Drexler spent the last two years working in the Cornell athletic department as a media relations contact for nine Big Red sports. He worked primarily with the men’s soccer team, the women’s lacrosse team and the national semifinalist women’s ice hockey program, traveling with that team to Duluth, Minn., for the Women’s Frozen Four in 2012. He was also responsible for men’s and women’s cross country and track, men’s golf, sprint football and equestrian.

Before his time with Cornell, Drexler spent two years reporting on every high school sport in Broward County for The Miami Herald. His duties included covering more than 50 high schools as The Herald’s primary reporter for football, soccer and softball.

Thomas becomes the Sports Information Assistant after working in a similar role at Florida during the 2012-13 athletic year. While at Florida, Thomas served as the primary contact for the women’s golf team while adding secondary duties for women’s basketball and women’s tennis.  The Little Rock-native also assisted with the media relations efforts for the Florida Gator football program.

A 2011 graduate of the University of Arkansas, Thomas worked as a student assistant in the UA athletic department before working as a full-time intern during the 2011-12 athletic year. In addition to serving as the primary contact for men’s and women’s tennis, Thomas added secondary duties for men’s and women’s basketball and aided the department’s football efforts during his time in Fayetteville.
