LITTLE ROCK – Senior Katie Reid and junior Sofia Berglund have been named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team for the 2012-13 season. To qualify for the WGCA's All-American Scholar Team, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or above.
The honor is Berglund's second, as she was also named to the WGCA All-American Scholar Team following her freshman season at UALR.
Reid, a criminal justice major, played in nine events as a junior and averaged 83.12 strokes over 25 rounds. She fired her low round of the year (77) in the opening round of the Rio Verde Invitational on March 8.
A psychology major, Berglund played in 10 events as a sophomore, averaging 77.68 strokes over 28 rounds to rank 24th in the Sun Belt. She earned four top-25 finishes on the year, including a tie for ninth place with a seven-over par 223 (71-73-79) at the Sun Belt Championships in Muscle Shoals, Ala.
Founded in 1983, the WGCA is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The NGCA represents nearly 500 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
