LITTLE ROCK – The UALR women’s golf team will play in its third event of the fall season with the ORU Shootout, presented by Bob Hurley Auto Family beginning Monday, Sept. 30 in Tulsa, Okla. The 18-team event will be played on the 6,120-yard, par-71 layout at Meadowbrook Country Club.
The event will consist of 36 holes on Monday followed by the final round of 18 on Tuesday. Both days will begin at 8:30 a.m.
In addition to host Oral Roberts and UALR, the 18-team field includes Arkansas State, Houston Baptist, Incarnate Word, Lamar, McLennan CC, Missouri State, Northern Arizona, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma City, Sam Houston State, Southern Utah, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UTEP, Western Texas and Wichita State.
In the Trojans’ most recent event, junior Sofia Berglund earned her second straight top-10 finish after finishing the Golfweek Conference Challenge in a tie for eighth place. Berglund carded a one-over 73 at Red Sky Golf Club in Wednesday’s final round to put her at nine-over par for the tournament. Berglund placed fifth at the Chris Banister Golf Classic in UALR’s first event of the season and is currently ranked fifth among all players in the Sun Belt Conference in scoring average (75.33).
Following the ORU Shootout, the Trojans will have a two-week break before traveling to Springfield, Mo., to defend their title at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial on Oct. 14. Last year, UALR took first place in the 15-team field while Emelie Westrup (2009-13) claimed medalist honors in Springfield.
