MONTGOMERY, Texas – The UALR men’s golf team is in second place and just four strokes back of the lead following the first two rounds at the HBU Husky Invitational at Wood Forest Golf Club on Monday. Senior Nick Zimmerman is tied for the lead among 73 individuals at six-under par 136 through two rounds.
ULM leads the field of 13 at 13-under 555 through two rounds of competition. UALR combined for a team score of nine-under 559 to sit alone in second place. Host Houston Baptist is in third at five-under 563.
Zimmerman began the day with a two-under 69, then followed that up with a four-under 67 in his second round of 18. Sophomore Matias Calderon is two strokes back of the lead and tied for sixth at three-under 139. Calderon opened with a one-under 70 and followed with a two-under par 69 in the second round. Junior Alfred Kerstis (70-72) sits in a tied for 13th place at even-par 142, and junior Johann Voss (75-69) is tied for 21st at two-over 144.
Tuesday’s final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
