LITTLE ROCK – The UALR women’s golf team will compete in the Blue Raider Invitational at the par-72, 6,177-yard Old Fort Golf Club beginning Monday, Oct. 21. The two-day, 54-hole event will be the final tournament of the fall season for the Trojans.
UALR placed third of 18 teams at the Blue Raider Invitational last fall, as host Middle Tennessee took first place and Morehead State claimed runner-up honors. The Trojans combined for the second-lowest team score of the final round to finish one stroke back of Morehead State.
Most recently, UALR tied for sixth of 17 teams at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Mo. Junior Sofia Berglund led the Trojans by placing 14th of 102 individuals with a three-round score of 208. Berglund carded an even-par 72 in the event’s final round.
Freshman Melodie Jean Dit Berthelot finished three shots back of Berglund in a tie for 19th, closing with rounds of 3-over 75 and 6-over 78 in the final two rounds. Sophomore Stina Resen tied for 26th overall. After opening with a 1-over 73, Resen closed with rounds of 5-over 77 and 11-over 83 to finish the tournament at 233.
Berglund is currently tied for 12th in the Sun Belt Conference in scoring with a stroke average of 76.00 over 12 rounds. Junior Sofie Kvarnstrom is tied for 19th in the conference at 76.83 stokes over 12 rounds this season.
