LITTLE ROCK – The UALR men’s golf team will play in its final event of the fall season beginning Monday, Nov. 4 at the ASU Fall Beach Classic at Peninsula Golf Club in Muscle Shoals, Ala. Practice rounds will be played Sunday and the event tees off with a shotgun start on Monday at 7:30 a.m.
The two-day, 54-hole event includes 13 teams. In addition to host Arkansas State and UALR, the field includes Houston Baptist, Illinois State, Louisiana, Memphis, Murray State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Dakota, Stephen F. Austin and West Florida. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday before playing the final 18 on Tuesday.
In UALR’s most recent event, senior Nick Zimmerman led the Trojans with a combined score of 5-over par 221 at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate. Zimmerman finished the event in a tie for 19th place after shooting a 4-over 76 on Tuesday.
UALR’s roster currently features three players ranked in the top-15 of the Sun Belt Conference in scoring. Zimmerman leads the Trojans and ranks fourth in the league with an average of 73.00 strokes per 18 holes. Junior Alfred Kerstis ranks eighth with an average of 74.00, while classmate Johann Voss ranks 11th in the conference with an average of 74.58.
Following the ASU Fall Beach Classic, the Trojans will have over three months off before they return to action at the Wyoming Cowboy Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, Calif., on Feb. 21.
