LITTLE ROCK - The UALR swimming and diving team returned to action with two individual wins, a 120-94 win over Ouachita Baptist and a 177-60 loss to Southern Illinois in the Donaghey Aquatic Center on the Trojans' senior day.
Freshman Erin Trumbach earned a win in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:27.77, which was three seconds faster than the next finisher. Sophomore Valeriya Teplova touched the wall first in the 100 free with a time of 53.00 to win by a tenth of a second.
Trumbach and Teplova were joined by senior Kara Raney and freshman Courtney Coe for a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay in 1:49.18. Raney, Coe Teplova and junior Meghan Petersen earned another second in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:39.73.
Raney also took third in the 50 free finishing in 24.61. Fellow senior Holly Myers added two fourth-place finishes in the 200 free (2:01.84) and 200 back (2:12.67). While freshman Jinson Kang took second in the 200 IM (2:13.14) and the 200 butterfly (2:13.73).
Before the meet the Trojans’ four seniors, Raney, Myers, Hope Myers and Samantha Thompson, were honored for their contributions to the UALR swim team.
UALR will be back in the pool on Saturday, Jan. 25 in Lawrence, Kan. to take on the Kansas Jayhawks at 10 a.m.
