SAUCIER, Miss. – The UALR men’s golf team is tied for sixth place with a team score of 302 through one round of play at the Sun Belt Championship at Grand Bear Golf Club. Sophomore Matias Calderon leads the Trojans and is tied for 14th at 1-over par 73.
UT Arlington leads the field of 10 following a team score of 2-under 286 on Monday. Georgia State (288) is in second place and just two shots off the lead. South Alabama combined for a team score of 293 in the opening round and sits third.
UALR is in a three-way tie for sixth place with WKU and Arkansas State. The three teams are one shot back of fifth-place ULM (301) and three shots back of fourth-place Louisiana (299).
Texas State’s Stuart Smallwood and South Alabama’s Tyler Klava are tied for the lead after shooting matching rounds of 4-under 68 on Monday. Easton Key of Arkansas State is alone in third place at 3-under 69 following one round of play.
Junior Johann Voss is tied for 17th following a 2-over 74 in the opening round. Senior Ben Etchebarne carded a 4-over 76 on Monday and is currently tied for 23rd. Junior Alfred Kerstis and freshman Noah Tullos finished their opening rounds at 7-over 79 and will enter Tuesday tied for 39th place.
Play will resume on Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
