The UALR athletic department welcomed Sheena Howell as the new Director of Sales in June of 2011. A native of Glenwood, Ark., Howell joined the Trojan staff after spending four years as a student-athlete at UALR, where she was a four-year letterman in track and field and worked in the athletic department as an auction coordinator for the department's annual SpectacUALR fundraiser.
In her role as Director of Sales, Howell will aid in the development and marketing strategies for season ticket sales for men's and women's basketball. In addition to overseeing group ticket sales, Howell will also be responsible for developing and cultivating prospective donors to the Trojan Athletics Foundation (TAF) and, along with the Associate Director of External Operations, assisting in the sales of corporate sponsorships, radio and television. Managing the annual UALR Ambassador Program and serving as a liaison to alumni and the campus community will also be vital aspects of the position.
As an undergraduate at UALR, Howell set the school record in the pole vault on February 16, 2008, with a vault of 3.21m (10-06.25) at the Iowa State Classic. Academically, she was recognized by being named to the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List and the UALR Chancellor's List. As a senior in 2011, Howell was selected to represent UALR as the school's SBC Sporting Behavior Nominee. She was also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) from 2008-11, and served as the committee's vice president in her final year. The Glenwood, Ark., native was also a member of the Student Marketing Association and worked as a volunteer for the Miracle League of Arkansas and the Little Rock Marathon.
Prior to accepting her current position, Howell was a student worker in the UALR athletic department. As an auction coordinator for SpectacUALR, she collected over $19,000 worth of auction items, contacted more than 200 local businesses to solicit auction items while organizing all donations put up for auction.
She currently resides in Little Rock, Ark.
