LITTLE ROCK - Junior Tyler Buckley pitched four scoreless innings to help the Maroon Team even UALR's Fall World Series with a 2-1 victory over the Silver Team Wednesday afternoon at Gary Hogan Field. Sophomore Ryan Montgomery pitched a scoreless seventh inning to pick up the save as the two teams head into Saturday's contest with the series tied at one game apiece.
The Maroon team got on the board early, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. After senior Cameron Bentley drew a walk and stole second base, senior Sean Bignall knocked an RBI single to left field that made the score 1-0, Maroon.
The Maroon Team extended its lead to two in the top half of the fourth. Following a one-out single by junior David Guarno, sophomore Kaleb Jobe doubled off the right field wall to give the Maroon Team runners at first and third. Freshman Ryan Hope then made it a two-run contest with a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Guarno from third.
A Sam Vogel RBI single in the bottom of the sixth produced the only run of the afternoon for the Silver Team. Vogel drove in senior Nick Rountree, who led off the inning with a double.
The two teams will meet again in game three on Saturday at Gary Hogan Field. First pitch is slated for 11 a.m.
