NORTH LITTLE ROCK,
Ark. - UALR (4-2) won every match Saturday (Feb. 9) en route to a 7-0 win
over North Alabama (1-1) at Burns Park.

Plyuta and senior Yana Kakovkina
cruised to an 8-3 win at first doubles. Senior Veronique Luksich and sophomore Michaela McShane clinched the doubles point with an 8-1 in the
second slot. Sophomore Dané Vorster
and freshman Kamilla Galieva won 8-2
at third doubles.
The Trojans did not even drop a set in singles play to
roll to the 7-0 match win. Luksich won 6-0, 6-0 over Mackenzie Bishop at first
singles to improve to a 5-1 on the season. Kakovkina improved to 3-2 with a
6-1, 6-1 over Natalia Barragan at second singles. Plyuta (2-4) clinched the
match for UALR with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Bruna Viera at third singles.
With the match already in hand, the Trojans closed out
the match strong with a trio of wins. Galieva (5-1) bested Teresa Franco of 6-1,
6-2 at fourth singles. Vorster moved to .500 through her first six matches of
the season thanks to a 6-3, 7-6 (2) victory at fifth singles. Finishing the
match strong, McShane remained undefeated in four matches for the season with a
6-0, 6-0 win over Marcey Anne Sykes of North Alabama at sixth singles.
UALR takes another week off before it begins a busy
schedule of seven matches in eight days. The Trojans begin play next weekend
against Washburn on Saturday (Feb. 16) at 8:30 a.m. before concluding the
weekend in Kansas City, Mo., Sunday (Feb. 17) against Rockhurst at 10 a.m. and
UMKC at 3 p.m.
