UALR tennis (10-5) got back to its winning ways with a 6-0 win over
Arkansas-Pine Bluff Friday afternoon (March 8).
UALR started hot with a sweep at doubles. The duo of
sophomore Michaela McShane and
senior Veronique Luksich (6-4) cruised
to an 8-3 win at first doubles. At second doubles, senior Yana Kakovkina and junior Viktoriya
Plyuta (6-7) claimed an 8-2 win. Sophomore Dané Vorster and freshman Kamilla
Galieva (6-4) won by default at third doubles.
The Trojans did not even drop a set in claiming five singles
wins. Freshman Christel Amsallem (4-4)
won every game en route to a 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth singles. Luksich (9-4) at
first singles and McShane (9-3) at fourth singles both claimed 6-0, 6-2 victories. Plyuta (7-7) won 6-2, 6-1 at third
singles. Galieva (11-4), who recently moved up to second singles, comfortably won
UALR makes the quick turnaround when it returns to action
tomorrow (March 9) when it takes on 75th-ranked ULM. Match time in
Monroe, La. is set for 2 p.m.
