MONROE, La. -
UALR Tennis (10-6) wrapped up weekend play with a 7-0 loss to 75th-ranked
ULM (8-1) Saturday afternoon (March 10).
The Warhawks won both doubles matches by 8-1 scores. Senior Veronique Luksich and sophomore Michaela McShane fell at first doubles
to Ema Turudija and Sophie Rufyikiri. Freshman Christel Amsallem and junior Viktoriya Plyuta lost to Medy Blankvoort and
Justyna Krol at third doubles.
Second doubles did not finish.
Luksich lost the first set 6-1 to Rufyikiri before retiring
down 2-1 in the second set. Blankvoort beat Plyuta 6-0, 6-1 at second singles.
Freshman Kamilla Galieva won the
first frame 6-1 at third singles, but Silvia Tumova rallied to win the next two
sets 6-4, 10-3.
Sophomore Dané
Vorster lost 7-5, 6-1 at fourth doubles to Turudija. McShane lost at fifth
singles 6-3, 6-2. Amsallem dropped the sixth-singles match 6-0, 6-2.
UALR takes a week off before beginning its second long road
trip of the season. The Trojans will play four matches in five days, starting
with a road swing at Western Kentucky next Saturday (March 16) before taking on
Middle Tennessee Sunday (March 17).
