Dance Team Tryouts Scheduled for June 29

LITTLE ROCK - Head coach Sara Beth Wyatt has announced that tryouts for the 2014-15 UALR dance team will be held on Sunday, June 29 starting at 2 p.m. at the Jack Stephens Center. Those wishing to attend will first need to fill out the attached form and return it via email to sewyatt@ualr.edu.

The UALR dance team is a representative of UALR and the Department of Athletics. The UALR dance team participates in events for the Department of Athletics, volunteers with community service opportunities, as well as leading and performing cheers and dances during the UALR Trojan basketball season. The position provides scholarship opportunities as well as a venue to showcase your school pride, talent, and commitment to your college experience.

Tryouts:
Date: Sunday, June 29
Time: 2 p.m.
Location: Jack Stephens Center Main Court/Derek Fisher Court

Tryouts should not last longer than 6 p.m. The new team will have its first meeting one hour after tryouts end. The 2014-15 UALR dance team will be announced at the conclusion of the tryout process on June 29.

Tryout Dance Requirements:
Basic Skills (each Dance Team hopeful will be required to perform these skills)
Double pirouette turns (right and left)
Grand jetes (right and left)
High kicks (right and left)
Pique, coupe, chainne turns (right and left)
Calypso
Advanced Skills (Dance Team hopefuls who would like to also be considered for our squad will have the option to perform these skills):
Triple pirouette turns (right and left)
Switch leaps (right and left)
Fouette turns in second
Attitude turns
Toe Touch
All Dance Team hopefuls will learn a portion of a jazz combination/pom/hip hop combination.

Appearance/ What to Wear:
For auditions, please wear a half top (stylish, embellished), dance shorts, tights and jazz shoes. We continue to promote a collegiate image. Wear game day make-up and style your hair down. We encourage you to wear rhinestone stud earrings, but no other jewelry.
