LITTLE ROCK – Junior Emma Dahl has been named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic team. Dahl boasts a 3.44 cumulative GPA and is coming off a sophomore season that saw her become the first female in program history to compete at an NCAA West Regional.
Dahl qualified for the NCAA West Regional in the 3K steeplechase after placing sixth in the event at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships in May in a time of 10:59.59. A native of Gothenburg, Sweden, Dahl’s time of 10:16.66 in the event at the Rhodes Open in March stood as the best in the nation for the first three weeks of the outdoor season.
Dahl also enjoyed a stellar indoor season. She moved into second all-time at UALR with a time of 9:49.13 in the 3K at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships in February. She also ranks second on the Trojans’ all-time list in the 5K after a time of 17:22.81 at the same meet.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards. For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org. For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
