- Three UALR track and field athletes have qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary
hosted by the University of Texas on May 24-26 in Austin, Texas. Senior Demond Burns, junior Taron Dunn and junior Jason Belt each qualified for
competition in their respective events.
Burns actually qualified for two events, as he will
participate in the preliminaries of the 100-meter and 200-meter dash events.
Burns' qualifying time of 10.35 was good enough to seed him 23rd in
the 100 meters, while his 200-meter time of 20.77 seeds him 17th.
Dunn's qualifying jump of 15.11m seeds him 46th
in the preliminaries of the triple jump. Belt's throw of 52.85m seeds him 42nd
in the discus throw.
Burns, Dunn and Belt will hope to qualify for the NCAA
Outdoor Championships hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa on June
6-9.
