UALR Baseball To Hold Three Summer Camps In June
UALR Sports Information
Release: 05/22/2012
LITTLE ROCK - The UALR baseball program will host three separate camp sessions at Gary Hogan Field during the month of June. Each of the three sessions will provide hands-on instruction and allow the participants an opportunity to develop their skills by working with the UALR coaching staff and players.

The Youth Camp Session will take place June 4-7 at Gary Hogan Field and is open to kids ages 6-13. The youth camp will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day, and offers young players the opportunity to build on their spring season in a fun and positive learning atmosphere. Each day, the campers will take part in drills at several stations to learn the skills of the game from the UALR coaches and players, before participating in games and competitive events. Awards and prizes will be given out on the final day of camp. The cost of the Youth Camp is $95 per camper for the four-day session. All participants are required to bring their baseball equipment, including gloves, cleats, running shoes, hat, helmet, etc.

On June 19, the UALR coaching staff will conduct a High School Hitting Camp from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. UALR has followed up its 2011 Sun Belt Conference Championship and NCAA Regional appearance with a record-setting offensive performance in 2012. The Trojans are currently ranked in the top-10 nationally in seven statistical categories, and have already established new school records for home runs and triples in a season. This one-day camp will teach campers the same techniques and fundamentals that are taught to the Trojan players on a day-to-day basis. The High School Hitting Camp is open to kids ages 13-18 and is $50 per camper.

On June 20, The Trojan coaches will hold a High School Summer Showcase, which is designed to demonstrate the talent of serious high school players for collegiate coaches at multiple levels. The camp will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is open to high school students graduating in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The camp will be conducted as a pro-style workout to allow each camper an opportunity to showcase their abilities. Campers will run a 60-yard dash, take batting practice and be evaluated at their position, and pitchers will throw live from the mound. The cost of the High School Summer Showcase is $95 per camper. A complete list of colleges that will be in attendance can be obtained by contacting UALR assistant baseball coach Chris Marx at 501-414-6501, or by email at

Walk-ups are welcome at all camp sessions, though campers are encouraged to register ahead of time to guarantee a camp t-shirt upon arrival. Any questions regarding the camps or registration should be directed to UALR assistant baseball coach Chris Marx at 501-414-6501, or by email at
