LITTLE
ROCK, Ark.—The UALR women’s basketball team added Jaliria
and Jakeisha Wells to the 2012-13
signing class announced today by head coach Joe Foley. The twin sisters come to UALR from Proviso East High
School in Maywood, Ill.
“We are excited about
getting Jaliria and Jakeisha,” said Foley. “Both are very good athletes. The
both run the floor really well. I think it will be two great additions to our
program.”
Both girls have helped
Proviso East High School to program history during their junior campaigns as
their team won both the regional and sectional championship. This past season
the sisters helped lead the team to a regional championship.
Jakeisha Wells averaged
11.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.9 steals, 2.1 blocks, and 1.3 assists per game her
senior campaign.
The 6-3 forward earned
all-conference in 2010 and 2011 and all-conference Gold Division in 2012. She
has earned all-tournament team and Player of the Game numerous times.
Jakeisha Wells was
nominated as one of the top prospects in the McDonald’s Shootout in January of
this season. She also earned Walter Payton’s Roundhouse Player of the Month in
2009 and 2010.
For her AAU team, she
earned a place on the all-start team at the USJN Championship Midwest Summer
Final.
Jakeisha Wells plans on
majoring in sports management.
Jaliria Wells averaged 8.6
points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game her senior campaign.
The 6-2 forward was
nominated for the Walter Payton’s Roundhouse Player of the Month in 2009 and
2010. She also earned all-tournament team and Player of the Game numerous
times.
For her AAU team, she earned
a place on the all-star team at the USJN Championship Midwest Summer Final.
Jaliria Wells plans on
majoring in business management with a minor in marketing.
