LITTLE
ROCK
- The UALR women's basketball team has announced its schedule for the upcoming
2012-13 season, a 29-game slate featuring 16 games at the Jack Stephens Center,
including seven of 10 to start the season. The upcoming slate also features 10
home doubleheader dates with the UALR men's team, including the regular-season
finale against in-state rival Arkansas State.
The UALR women return three starters and seven
letterwinners from last year's NCAA Tournament team. The 2011-12 Trojans
(20-13, 12-4 SBC) captured their second-straight Sun Belt Tournament title en
route to making their third-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. UALR also
reached the 20-win mark for the sixth-straight season and finished atop the Sun
Belt's West Division for the fifth-consecutive year.
The 2012-13 Trojans kick off their season off at Tulsa
on Nov. 12, then return to Little Rock for the home opener against Missouri
State (Nov. 15), a team that finished the 2011-12 season with a 24-9 mark and
qualified for the WNIT. UALR then travels to Dallas to take on SMU (Nov. 19)
before kicking off a five-game home stand with Oral Roberts in the first home
doubleheader date of the season on Nov. 21. The Trojans host Rice on Nov. 24, then
face their first Sun Belt Conference opponent of the season, Troy, at home on
Nov. 29.
UALR begins the December portion of its schedule with
ULM (Dec. 1) and Southern Miss (Dec. 4) at the Jack Stephens Center. An away
date with the Memphis Tigers, a team that went 25-8 and advanced to the second
round of the WNIT in 2011-12, awaits the Trojans on Dec. 7. UALR then gets 10
days of rest before hosting Tulsa in the back end of its home-and-home with the
Hurricane on Dec. 18. A pair of road contests at South Alabama (Dec. 22) and Louisiana-Lafayette
(Dec. 29) send the Trojans into 2013.
The Trojans begin January with WKU in the Jack Stephens
Center on Jan. 3, followed by a trip to Troy on Jan. 5. Next, the Trojans play
back-to-back home contests against North Texas (Jan. 9) and FIU (Jan. 12).
A rematch of the 2012 SBC Tournament title game awaits
the Trojans on Jan. 16. UALR hits the road to take on Middle Tennessee in the
first of two regular-season matchups with the Blue Raiders. Both Middle
Tennessee and the Trojans have been to the NCAA Tournament each of the past
three seasons.
UALR takes on WKU (Jan. 19) in Bowling Green, Ky.,
before returning home to host Florida Atlantic (Jan. 23). A matchup at North
Texas (Jan. 26) and the team's final non-conference game of the season - at
home against Louisiana Tech (Jan. 30) - round out the January portion of the
schedule.
The Trojans begin February with South Alabama at home
(Feb. 2), then travel to ULM for a matchup with the Warhawks on Feb. 6. In
arguably the biggest two-game stretch of the season, UALR takes on Arkansas
State in Jonesboro on Feb. 13 before turning around to play Middle Tennessee in
the Jack Stephens Center on Feb. 16. A pair of matchups at FIU (Feb. 20) and
Florida Atlantic (Feb. 23) conclude the road portion of UALR's schedule, while
Louisiana-Lafayette (Feb. 28) and Arkansas State (March 2) wrap up the Trojans'
regular season.
The 2013 Sun Belt Tournament is scheduled for March
8-11 at Summit Arena in Hot Springs, Ark.
