SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. - The UALR women's golf team finished in a
tie for fifth amongst 19 teams in the UALR Women's Golf Classic at Diamante
Country Club on Tuesday. The Trojans shot a two-day , three-round combined
score 900 (+36) to finish just three strokes back of first-place UTEP, who
ended the tournament with a three-sround total of 897 (+33).
Tulsa (+34, 898) placed second overall, while Middle
Tennessee and Eastern Michigan tied for third after each ended the tournament
with three-round totals of 899 (+35).
The Trojans were led individually by Megan Vaughn, who fired a seven-over
par total of 223 (72-79-72) to finish in a five-way tie for tenth place. Brynn Donovan, UALR's leader through
two rounds, ended the tournament just a stroke back of Vaughn, posting a
three-round total of 224 (74-74-76).
Middle Tennessee's Karisa Akin took first place
individually and was the only player to finish the tournament under par. Akin
posted a final-round 71 to finish with a three-round total of one-under par 215
(74-70-71). Oral Roberts' Crystal Reeves, the individual leader through two
rounds, finished two strokes back in a tie for second place.
UALR returns to action with the Sun Belt Conference
Championships at Muscle Shoals, Ala., on April 16-18.
