DENTON, Texas - A 4-0 defeat at the hands of Troy (11-9) ended UALR's (13-13) 2011-12 season in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament at the Waranch Tennis Complex Thursday morning. Troy jumped out to a 1-0 lead by taking two of three in doubles before winning the first three finished singles matches to seal the victory.

Three UALR players were either winning or tied in their singles matches when the match was called. Junior Veronique Luksich was tied 6-6 in the first set with All-Conference performer Karoline Grymel in the No. 1 matchup, while sophomore Viktoriya Plyuta had won the opening set (3-6, 5-3) in her match against Lyubov Dorofeeva in the No. 2 match. Freshman Nina Yates (6-3, 0-5) was closing in on a second-set win against Samya El Hsissen when the match called.

In the finished singles matches, Olfa Dhaoui topped junior Yana Kakovkina 6-0, 6-1, and Candela Munoz Giron defeated freshman Michaela McShane 6-2, 6-1. Rosaura Ramirez-Vega picked up another straight-set win for Troy, winning 6-0, 6-1 against freshman Alina Kolegova.

Prior to singles, Troy took two of three in doubles to garner an early 1-0 lead. Kakovkina and Plyuta nearly pulled off the upset against the All-Conference duo of Grymel and Dorofeeva, falling 8-6 in the No. 1 matchup.  Luksich and McShane pulled off UALR's only win of the day, as the duo pounded Ramirez-Vega and Gabrielle Vega 8-1 to end the season on an eight-match win streak. Munoz Giron and Dhaoui defeated Yates and Kolegova by an 8-3 count in the No. 3 match to secure the doubles point for Troy.

The Trojans' 13 wins this season were the most by a UALR squad since the 2006-07 team went 18-9 on the year. Without a senior on its roster, UALR returns all seven of its letterwinners for the 2012-13 season.
