- Senior Veronique Luksich and
sophomore Michaela McShane were
honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as Scholar-Athletes for the
2011-12 year. In order to earn ITA
Scholar-Athlete status, a player must be a varsity letterwinner, earn a GPA of
at least 3.50 for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their

An East London, South Africa-native, Luksich ended her
junior season with a team-best 16-8 singles record and 16-9 doubles tally. She
and McShane teamed to go 16-6 on the year with wins against Sun Belt foes Troy,
Arkansas State and Middle Tennessee to their credit. A criminal justice major, Luksich had a
perfect 4.0 GPA in the Spring 2012 semester and sports a 3.93 cumulative GPA in
her three years at UALR.
McShane compiled a 12-14 singles record in her freshman
season while playing the bulk of her matches at the No. 4 singles spot. The
Melbourne, Australia-native also finished the season with a 16-9 singles
record, thanks in part to her 16-6 record when paired with Luksich. The two
ended the season on an eight match win streak. A business major, McShane sports
a 3.61 GPA after her first year at UALR.
