MURFREESBORO,
Tenn.—The UALR men’s and women’s track and field teams
finished strong at the MTSU Invitational Saturday. The Trojans won four events
for the day.
Nathan
Carr won
his third-straight 800-meter run event this season with a time of 1:53.36. Barrett Kerth placed seventh in
1:57.61, while Markus Pearson placed
11th in 2:00.32. Jeremy Sasse
recorded a time of 2:03.18 for 16th place, and Brendon Tucker placed 18th
in 2:03.62.
Caitlin
Masterson placed tenth in the women’s 800-meter run in 2:22.44,
while Jessica Dyer placed 13th
in 2:26.23.
In the women’s mile run, Erika LaCroix won the event with a time
of 5:02.72. Mackenzie Bloom placed
seventh in 5:14.81, while Tori Copeland finished
in 5:19.90 for 12th place.
Pearson was the top Trojan finisher in the men’s
mile run placing fifth in 4:20.19, and Johnny
Purvis placed eighth in 4:20.51. Kerth
recorded a time of 4:21.50 for ninth place, while Tucker placed 16th in 4:29.54.
Sanna
Mustonen won the women’s 3,000-meter run recording a time of
10:30.23, while Bloom placed second in 10:58.92. Breanne Mitchell finished in fourth in 11:35.44, and Taylor Brock recorded a time of
12:01.08 for fifth place.
In the men’s 3,000 meters,
Shaun Koehn was the top Trojan
finisher placing fourth in 8:46.17. Gabriel
Ghioca placed fifth in 8:54.06, while Brian
Giken placed 11th in 9:04.61. Chris Dunbar recorded a time of 9:05.72 for 12th place,
and Ben Alexander placed 14th
in 9:32.19.
Tachara
Thomas placed third in the women’s 400-meter dash in 1:00.95,
while Casey Lane placed eighth in
the men’s event in 50.84.
In the men’s 55-meter
dash, Demond Burns placed second in
the finals with a time of 6.38 after winning his preliminary heat 6.37.
The 4x440-yard relay team
of Lane, Carr, Taron Dunn, and Burns
won the event in 3:23.47.
Dunn also placed third in
the men’s long jump with a distance of 7.12m and third in the triple jump with
a distance of 14.57m.
In the men’s high jump, Troy Smith placed sixth with a height
of 1.81m.
Rebekah
Grissom placed fifth in the women’s shot put with a throw of
12.26m, while Quay Smith placed
tenth with a distance of 10.44m.
Jason
Belt placed
second in the men’s shot put with a throw of 15.01m and second in the men’s
weight throw with a distance of 17.30m.
The UALR men’s and women’s
track and field teams continue action next weekend as the Trojans compete
February 10-11 at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. and February 11
at the Valentine Invitational in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
